Belle Lurette [collection] : opéra-comique en 3 actes / de Blum, Blau et Toché ; musique de J. Offenbach. 1880?

Arranged in two groups: I. Vocal scores (1). II. Promptbooks (1). The vocal score is by Choudens, Paris (1880?, pl. no. A.C. 5024). The original French text has been taped over and replaced with handwritten English words. The promptbook is in English and carries the title statement "La jolie blanchisseuse" and the indication that the adaptation of the lyrics was by H.B. Farnie and the book by Frederic Solomon. It also includes the annotation "Produced in Paris at the Theatre Dela Renaissance October 30th, 1880." The book is manuscript in a lined ledger.

Jacques Offenbach (1819–1880) was a German-born French composer and cellist of Jewish ancestry. He had a strong influence in popular music in Europe, and was one of the originators of the operetta, of which he wrote more than one hundred. His works were noted for their elements of satire and parody; two for which he is particularly known are the operetta Orpheus in the Underworld and the opera The Tales of Hoffman .
